1. Poke a hole in the mushroom bag , deflate the air and tape the top down tight.
2. Cut three or four, two-inch holes in the bag located near Hyphal knots, (mushrooms starting to grow/where mycelial mass is most concentrated). Keep your block in a high humidity environment such as a mono tub or a plastic shopping bag where it can be exposed to indirect light, with temperatures ranging from 55-75° (F).
4. Mist growth sites and surrounding area with a plant mister 1-4 times a day to maintain high humidity. Do not use any chemically treated water. Well Spring or Rain work best for this process.
5. Let your Lion's Mane grow while consistently misting as needed to keep your block hydrated.
6. Harvest when Lion's Mane is still white and fresh. Usually around the size of a softball is the best time to harvest.
7. After harvest, patch the existing holes with tape and repeat the process three to four times until growth ceases or contamination is detected.
Enjoy Delicious Lion's Mane.
1. Place your block in a cold environment, (Less than 50° (F).) Not exposed to direct light for 3-5 days. Putting your block in the fridge is a common practice for this step.
2. After a few days you will start to see little brown dots forming on the sides of your mushroom growing kit , (these are forming Shiitakes). Cut the bag just below the air filter after you see 6-12 dots form and fill it with cold water for two hours. Do not use any chemically treated water. Well Spring or Rain work best for this process.
3. Take your block out of the mushroom bag completely and put it in a high humidity environment such as a mono tub or a plastic shopping bag where it can be exposed to indirect light, with temperatures ranging from
50-75° (F).
4. Mist growth sites and surrounding area with a plant mister 1-4 times a day to maintain high humidity. Make sure to again, stay away from treated water as it will kill certain bio-organisms needed for mushroom growth.
5. Let your Shiitake's grow while consistently misting as needed to keep your block hydrated.
6. Harvest when the edges of the mushroom cap are slightly curved. If the caps start to flatten out harvest the mushroom immediately. Carefully cut each mushroom at the base of the stem with a clean knife.
7. After harvest let your block dry out for 10-14 days then completely submerge it in water overnight to reignite the growing process.
8. Repeat the process three to four times or until growth ceases. Enjoy!
1. Place your mushroom growing kit on a table or countertop, on top of a plate outside of direct sunlight. The block should be kept in an environment 50-65° (F) for the best growing conditions.
2. After a few days you should see a plethora of a yellowish "marmalade" type liquid forming on the surface of the block. This is an indication that your block is ready to initiate the growing sequence. Once your block is covered more than 50% with the "marmalade" type liquid, you're ready to move on to the next step.
3. To start fruiting your Nameko mushrooms, cut the plastic bag just under the white air filter. Stand the sides of the bag up to form a "wall" around your block. This will allow your Nameko mushrooms to grow tall and proper.
4. Mist your block 1-4 times a day (these mushrooms really love humidity). For the best production it is advised to leave your mushroom bag in a Mono tub or similar growing environment where high humidity is easy to maintain. Do not use any chemically treated water. Well Spring or Rain work best for this process.
5. Let your Nameko's grow while consistently misting as needed to keep your block hydrated.
6. Harvest your mushrooms when the caps are 2-4" in width with a clean knife or pair of scissors, as close to the block as possible. Carefully make sure to trim off any remaining substrate that may still be attached to the harvested stem.
7. Second flushes are considered a bonus growth. After harvest leave your kit to dry out for 10-14 days. Once your kit is dry, completely soak it in water overnight to reinitiate the growing process. Make sure the block is fully submerged by placing a heavy item such as a rock on the top of the kit. Place your kit back how you had it before and resume misting 1-4 times a day.
